✅ Main takeaway:
Dustin Colquitt has emulated his father Craig by not only being an NFL player, but also a Super Bowl champion, with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020.
Colquitt spent 15 seasons with the Chiefs, setting the record for most appearances (238), but grew up dreaming of playing in the Premier League.
He played football in high school, received a college scholarship, and remains an avid football fan.
Colquitt remembers cheering Kane on during World Cup matches, and when asked if the former Tottenham striker could become an NRL player, Colquitt told BBC Sport: “Absolutely, if he puts his mind to it. He’ll do fantastic. I’ve seen some of his finishing skills.”
“I would actually love to work with him just because I love football and the excitement of it. He’s looking for that — that’s part of the fabric of his being, that he wants to experience that thing in the NFL.”
Almost always, a team player holds the ball in place for the kick takers. As Colquitt says, the punter “literally holds the kicker’s job in his hands” and “if you have a bad grip, really bad things happen.”
So, when Ken starts taking up kicking, he needs an experienced kicker, otherwise his attempt to become a two-sport athlete might be over before it really gets started.
“The guy holding those field goals, that’s very important — knowing where the laces are [on the ball] “If you have wind,” Colquitt said.
“So when he’s ready, I’m ready.”
