Universal Pictures9. EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert
When Baz Luhrmann was researching his Elvis biopic, he discovered dozens of boxes containing unseen documentary footage. Much of it has to do with Presley’s stays in Las Vegas after his own 1968 comeback: There were interviews, rehearsals and hours of outtakes from his two 1970s concert films. Now Luhrmann has restored and edited this footage to produce a brand new concert film – and it may lead us to re-evaluate Presley’s later career. Seeing EPiC will be the same as going to “the greatest concert I’ve ever seen,” promised Owen Gleiberman in Variety. “The film is a revelation, because for 96 minutes it shows you how great Elvis Presley was when he started performing live in Las Vegas in 1969 and the early 1970s… The power of Elvis’s voice remained undiminished – it soared, quavered, caressed, boomed, vibrated, and hit every note with a singular beauty.”

Teorima10. Dreams
Michel Franco’s dark romantic drama stars Jessica Chastain as a wealthy San Francisco socialite who runs an arts charity in Mexico. The last time she visited Mexico City, she was romantically involved with a dancer, played by Isaac Hernandez (a real-life ballet star), so when he sneaks into the United States in the back of a truck, he assumes she’ll be happy to see him. But he soon learned that philanthropy had strict limits. For her, supporting the arts in another country is a far cry from being seen in your hometown with someone of a different nationality and social class. “Gripping, chilling, and astonishingly depressing, [Dreams has] “A frightening and exciting social and political dimension that will leave viewers gasping,” says Matthew Turner in Next Best Picture. “Great performances, thrilling action, and devastating criticism of the rich combine to make this film a must-see.”
