Nicole said it was “surreal” to be on the team after her previous experience as a reserve in 2022.
“Things haven’t settled yet,” she told BBC Sport.
He added: “Being in Beijing in 2022 and being the alternate, it was a scary situation because there was no guarantee that I would ever win this Olympic title.
“There was a little part of me that always thought it would happen, and here we are, four years of absolute graft and I’m really proud to have gotten through that period.”
Nicole suffered a serious injury at the beginning of her season. Her spikes got stuck in the ground during a training session, causing her knee to hyperextend.
However, she has since achieved the best form of her bobsleigh career.
“Starting the season with an injury is not what anyone wants to start their Olympic campaign, but I’m really proud of how we’ve managed to achieve it.
“It was a case of not sitting back and adopting a victim mentality, it was right, this is the situation, how can we move forward and get better?”
“The Olympic deadline will not wait for anyone. It was a big battle and we were fighting with our hearts every week.
He added: “We have been able to finish on the podium four out of four in the European Cup, which has put us in a really strong position heading into the matches.”
