Olympic champion Chloe Kim says she will be ready to compete at next month’s Winter Olympics, despite dislocating her shoulder last week.
Kim, 25, underwent an MRI on Friday after injuring her shoulder while training in Switzerland.
The American is aiming to become the first woman to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe, following her victories in Pyeongchang in 2018 as a 17-year-old and in Beijing in 2022.
Kim said in an Instagram update that she is “ready to go” to attend the Milan-Cortina matches in Italy, which will be held from February 6-22.
She said her labrum injury is less serious than she feared, although it will prevent her from training before the Games.
“There are two different ways to do it, and the way I did it is less risky than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” Kim said.
“Obviously I’m really disappointed that I won’t be able to snowboard until just before the Olympics, which is going to be difficult.
“I didn’t get nearly as many reps as I wanted, but that’s okay. It’s funny because I’ve been doing this for a long time, and every season I’ve had different challenges.
“But again, I’m very grateful that I’ll be ready for the Olympics.”
