✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
Some of your favorite family memories will come from playing with Christmas decorations together. Dress up in silly costumes and play curling competitions with mom, dad and your brother Colin.
Those moments are special. It shows you the amazing community behind curling, which is a big part of why you fall in love with the sport.
One memory that will always stand out is when your whole family dressed up as the cast of Shrek, and you dressed up as Puss in Boots.
And if you want to “practice” wearing your mom’s shoes during the week leading up to the event, do so. Those shoes are amazing.
Curling will give you so much and the people at Curl Edinburgh will support you endlessly.
Remember to be grateful for the opportunities that come your way, and remember to thank the people who gave you those opportunities – they may not be around for as long as you expect.
Let me tell you, the trip is incredible. Results come, but they are never a straight line. There are highs and there are lows.
Some of these lows will make you wonder if elite sport is really for you. I know you doubt yourself sometimes, but you are much stronger than you think.
You will worry about what others think of you – that’s human, and it’s completely normal. But one day you’ll realize that what really matters is what you think of yourself.
So be proud of who you are. Don’t be afraid to show the world. By sharing your story, you will inspire others – and that’s what really matters.
Some of the toughest moments of your career will teach you more about yourself – and the sport – than any training session ever could.
Difficult moments will be painful, but rely on the friends and family around you, and they will help you get through it.
One last thing… You’re different from the other kids in your class.
I know that you want more than anything to fit in, but there will come a time in your life when you have to make a difficult decision, a decision that you believe could change everything for you.
It changes everything. But you become a better curler, a better friend and a better person. Don’t be afraid to be different, that’s your superpower.
PS: Please don’t dye your hair when you’re 15…you look ridiculous.
