Polish officials said Cellier received stitches on the field before being taken to hospital for surgery.
In a post on Instagram, externalSellier shared a selfie from her hospital bed, with the right side of her face — which was hit by the blade — cropped out.
“I know that one day I will look at this picture and remember that I am stronger than I thought,” she wrote.
“Thank you for all your words of support, I just wanted to let you know I’m totally fine.”
A spokesman for the Polish team told BBC Sport on Saturday morning: “Camila underwent surgery last night. She is in good condition. We are awaiting further tests today, to check her eye for any signs of damage.”
Fontana’s leather suit was scratched and she received some help from a physical therapist on her left hip during the layoff. She qualified to the final but finished fifth, missing out on a third medal at her home Games.
The 35-year-old was trying to elevate Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjørgen as the most decorated Winter Olympian.
