Moore’s grandfather, Vinson Byfield, came to the UK as part of the Windrush family and settled in Wales.

She began her sporting career as an athlete, representing Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, before moving to bobsleigh.

Moore left the British winter sports program in 2022 after claiming she witnessed “harmful and insulting behaviour”.

After a three-year break, she returned to the ice to compete for Jamaica in the European Cup in Lillehammer in January 2025.

“The journey has not been easy at all,” Moore added in her Instagram post., external

“That’s the biggest message to myself to never give up.

“To keep going even when you’re hurting. To keep going when you’re tired. To keep going when others try to stop you. To keep going even when times are good.”

The Jamaican bobsleigh team – made famous by the 1993 comedy Cool Runnings – will have two other crews in Milan-Cortina, also qualifying for the four-man and two-man event.

The XXV Winter Olympics will be held in northern Italy from Friday 6 to Sunday 22 February.

The BBC will broadcast more than 450 hours of live action from the games.
