Scottish Rugby said that these “women selected for Scotland receive separate wages through the national team agreement”, which is “in addition to any Scottish Rugby support they may receive”.
The union explained: “This means that players, regardless of whether they are supported by Scottish Rugby or not, receive money for the time they spend in camp preparing for test matches – and a match fee if they are selected to play.”
Other Scotland-based players include Holland Bogan, Emily Cuprow, Nicole Flynn, Merryn Gunderson, Emily Norval and Ayla Ronald.
All Scottish players on contracts are linked to club teams and the Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors Women’s teams.
Club players Setide Ainsworth, Poppy Fletcher, Megan Hyland, Poppy Mellanby, Skye Phemister, Imogen Spence and Tali Tawaki are listed as being in ‘development’ support.
Gemma Fay, Executive Director of Women’s Rugby, said: “Securing the financial commitment to expand the number of players supported is a clear sign of Scottish Rugby’s belief in the potential of this group and the future of the game, especially as we begin a new Rugby World Cup cycle.
“We are focused on creating the right environments locally in Scotland where players can train, play and recover at a high level.”
Director of Performance, David Nucifora, added: “It is important that we get off to a fast and purposeful start to the new Rugby World Cup programme. Performance is about decision-making and the process of identifying players for support reflects that. These decisions are made carefully and with the future in mind.
“The door remains open for Scotland to select; contracts are only one part of the picture. These one-year contracts allow us to give younger players the opportunity to grow, as well as flexibility as the women’s game develops.”
“Challenging Celtic will be a key part of that and we are now focused on putting the right people and structures in place to ensure both teams can perform and develop successfully.”
The Celtic Challenge, which includes Edinburgh and Glasgow, takes place from December until March.
