Denny Hamlin shared an update on Tyler Reddick’s contract extension on the latest episode of the podcast Harmful actions. The team owner stressed that Reddick “deserved” this after the “exceptional” work he had done in recent races.
Reddick set another NASCAR record with his fourth win in six races at Darlington. The driver who achieved this feat was Bill Elliott in 1992. Furthermore, Reddick set a new record for number of wins in a single season with 23XI as well.

The Californian joined the team in 2023 on a multi-year contract, and the contract is set to expire this year. When asked about the extension, Denny Hamlin said:
“Yes, without a doubt. It will be soon. He deserves everything he gets. He did a great job.”
Denny Hamlin won the previous weekend in Las Vegas. He is currently 122 points behind Redick and two behind teammate Bubba Wallace.
Hamlin and Reddick will be gunning for a win in Martinsville next weekend. While Reddick has never won at the track, Hamlin lifted the trophy last year at the Cook Out 400.
Denny Hamlin talks about starting the “dream” of 23XI through 2026
Denny Hamlin shared a positive outlook for the 23XI during the post-race press conference at Darlington. Ironically, Hamlin pointed out that his No. 11 JGR entry has far more weaknesses than the No. 45 team.
“It was a dream, but it’s tough. Even old teams dream of a start like this. For a new team to think about it, maybe it’s a little dream in the sky, but it all comes together. In the end, you just have to keep putting good people together, and you’ll get these kind of results… I think this was the most impressive weekend I’ve seen since 23XI, because everyone came here with so many unknowns, and they discovered the Rubik’s Cube before anyone else.” Hamlin said.
“Short tracks are the only place I think 23XI as a whole can improve a little bit, but I know they’re all working on it. But I don’t know. We don’t have any weaknesses right now,” he added.
Denny Hamlin’s 23XI co-owner Michael Jordan also offered his support for Tyler Reddick’s perseverance. The reason is that Riddick had to overcome a series of problems on his way to his victory.
Reddick’s generator failed in the opening mission, and he was forced to retire his cool suit as a result. This forced the No. 45 team to use a larger battery during an extended pit stop. The 30-year-old also had to turn off the car’s air conditioning to prevent further battery drain. He eventually passed the dominant Brad Keselowski to finish more than five seconds ahead.
Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin finished 11th in the final standings. The JGR driver was unable to break into the top ten in both stages either.
