It’s strange It’s cold there. (Source: I’m in Illinois, where today’s high temperature was 12 degrees F and felt like 6.) Sometimes it feels like my furnace can’t keep up, but fortunately, I have plenty of hot blankets around me. I’ve put them to the test for our best heated blankets buying guide, and a few of my favorite picks are on sale now. They’re easy to use, safe, machine washable, and most importantly, they can keep you warm even if winter still keeps your area in its terrible icy clutches.

Solid flannel electric blanket

This is my favorite warming blanket on a budget, and now it’s even more affordable. It’s reversible, with one side plush and one side fluffy sherpa (the blanket is made of polyester). It has a short wire with a blue light that indicates the current mode. There are 10 color options, four size options, 10 heat cycle options, and an auto-off timer of up to 10 hours maximum. But the best part is that this blanket has a pre-heating mode. I like to turn it on when I shower at night so my bed will be nice and warm when I get in. It’s a good, basic, machine washable option in the living room for movie watching and lazy Sundays too. If you get a discounted heated blanket based on this story, it should be this one.

Gotcozy Heated Throw Blanket for $27 ($13 off)

This affordable blanket is great if you want something to warm your lap on the couch. It’s so thin that it doesn’t look like much, but it still adds a layer of warmth that’s enjoyable on its own or over another blanket. It has four heat levels and turns off automatically after three hours. It heats up quickly, is machine washable, and comes in 11 colors. Most of them are on sale at this price. We tested the throw-on version, and it’s available in larger sizes (though it will still be on the thin side). It won’t replace your regular living room bedding set, but it may add something you’ve been missing.

Bedsure GentleSoft Heated Blanket for $46 ($25 off)

Warm blanket from Gentle Soft

This heated blanket has a ribbed texture that makes it appear thick, and this texture helps hide internal heating components and wires that are sometimes easy to notice in non-woven blankets. It is soft on both sides of polyester and sherpa. There are 27 colors and patterns to choose from, it’s lightweight, and offers 10 heat settings with an auto-off timer that runs for up to 10 hours. It is also machine washable. It takes a little longer to heat up than some other blankets, but not so long that it’s uncomfortable. If you want more interesting colors or patterns, this blanket is worth checking out.
