📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:
Actor Keanu Reeves paid tribute to Diane Keaton after she died in California on Saturday at the age of 79.
Speaking on the red carpet at the New York screening of his latest film Good Fortune, Reeves told E! News: “She was very nice to me. [A] A generous and generous artist and a very special and unique person.”
The duo co-starred in Something’s Gotta Give, Nancy Meyers’ 2003 romcom about a playwright (played by Keaton) torn between a young doctor (Reeves) and an older lothario (Jack Nicholson) who’s been dating her daughter (Amanda Peet).
Reeves added: “It was great to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history that they shared and the fondness and love that they have for each other. It’s really wonderful.”
In 2020, Keaton and Reeves reunited to present an award at the Academy Awards and spoke about the happy time they had filming the film. Myers later shared a photo from the event with the caption: “Whoa, they probably ended up together.”
On Monday evening, Myers posted on Instagram about losing “a friend of almost 40 years — at times during those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly unforgettable experiences. As a filmmaker, I lost touch with an actress that one can only dream of.”
Keaton’s death came as a shock to the industry. Although she remained out of the public eye for about a year, it was not widely known that she was ill.
Woody Allen also praised Keaton in a long article published by the Free Press on Monday, saying her opinion was the only one he truly valued. “A few days ago the world was a Diane Keaton place,” he wrote. “Now, the world is bleaker.”
