Boeing is on track for the most aircraft deliveries in a year since 2018

Boeing The company delivered 55 planes to customers last month, putting it on track for its best year since 2018 as its production stabilized and its executives looked to ramp up production rates for its cash 737 Max jets.

Boeing said on Tuesday that 40 of the deliveries were of the 737 MAX, and customers included European budget airline Ryanair, which received 10 of the planes, as well as… Southwest Airlines, United AirlinesSouth China Leasing Company Aercap.

In the first nine months of 2025, Boeing delivered 440 planes, compared with 568 planes in the same period in 2018, before two fatal crashes involving 737 MAX planes within five months of each other turned the company upside down.

Rival Airbus has announced the delivery of 507 aircraft to its customers so far this year.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said last month that the manufacturer expects its 737 MAX production rate to reach 42 per month by the end of the year, up from the 38 per month cap set by the Federal Aviation Administration after a near-catastrophic door seal explosion on a flight in January 2024.

“I think we’re completely on board,” Ortberg said regarding the approval process with the FAA at a Morgan Stanley investor conference in September. “We have to stabilize that final scale. And then we’re definitely still planning to produce at 42 per month by the end of the year.”

Boeing on Tuesday also announced net orders for 48 aircraft in September, or 96 total sales before adjustments, including 64 787 Dreamliners, 50 for Turkish Airlines, and 30 737s for Norwegian Air.
