Jerry Jones is feeling another wave of criticism and backlash from the NFL amid the current situation of the Dallas Cowboys.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 16 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the Cowboys have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. This marks the second straight season the team will not make the postseason, extending their Super Bowl drought.

Missing the playoffs once again put Cowboys owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, under intense scrutiny in the NFL world. Fans and analysts were fed up with the team’s continued poor performance under his leadership, which led to a lot of criticism and backlash.

On Wednesday’s episode of the “Craig Carton Show,” Cowboys owner Tyrone Johnson criticized the team’s performance on the field over the years, questioning why he owns the franchise.

“Since 2009, I’ve found that every other team in the NFC, whether it’s the now-defunct Giants or whoever else is currently defunct in the NFC, they’ve all made the NFC Championship Game,” Johnson said. “All of them, except Dallas. They’re the only ones who didn’t make it.”

“And we know they’ve had 30 years of incompetence in terms of actually winning a Super Bowl, over 30 years. You literally can’t find a DVD of their Super Bowl because the DVDs didn’t exist the last time they won. You have to keep a VCR.”

“This is the only way to watch their Super Bowls because they don’t rebroadcast it because it’s so old. It wasn’t even a different game… If sports are supposed to be about wins and losses at the end of the day, how is Jerry Jones still allowed to own the Cowboys.”

Tyrone Johnson believes the new owner will do no worse than Jerry Jones

If the Dallas Cowboys are on the market, several individuals and leagues are expected to show immediate interest. Whoever turns out to be the preferred MC, Tyrone Johnson doesn’t think he’ll run the team any worse than Jerry Jones.

“If we’re going to be honest, do you think if the Dallas Cowboys were up for sale, there wouldn’t be a lot of suitors?” Johnson said. “If we’re being honest, aren’t these suitors likely to be more competent than Jerry Jones? I would say it’s impossible for them to be less competent than Jerry Jones. That would be an automatic improvement.”

“If you’re going to tell me that Dallas is America’s team, which you’re telling me, even though I deny it, I keep getting told that. And Dallas does the numbers, you have to talk about the Cowboys. If that’s true, why would the other 31 owners be OK with this guy being the most efficient owner in the entire league?”

Valued at a staggering $13 billion according to Forbes, the Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable sports team in the world. That’s $2 billion more than any other sports team. If Jones decides to sell, it’s safe to say he’d be up for a huge payday.
