Shocking upset on AEW Dynamite; Lost 3 time WWE Champion

A former WWE Superstar lost a high stakes match tonight. AEW Dynamite was full of fun matches and moments. Ricochet has had a lot of success since winning the AEW National Championship at Full Gear. However, the former United States Champion was unable to continue his momentum as he failed to defeat the ROH World Champion, Bandido.

Last week at Dynamite’s Holiday Bash, a Battle Royale was announced to determine the top contenders for the Dynamite Diamond Ring, which was owned by MJF. Salt of the Earth has owned the ring since the company’s founding. Ricochet and Bandido survived last Wednesday’s match and faced off in the finals of the Diamond Dynamite Ring.

The two were an excellent match. In the end, the three-time WWE Champion tried to cheat and emerge victorious. However, Bandido cleverly turned the tide in his favor and won the match with a quick pass. He also won the AEW World Title at Maximum Carnage on January 14.

AEW President Tony Khan spoke about Ricochet’s demand in the industry

Ricochet has a reputation as one of the best standouts in the business of professional wrestling. He didn’t have a noteworthy career in WWE, but fans enjoyed his booking on the Jacksonville-based promotion. He recently became the National Champion of Elite Wrestling.

While talking on battlefield podcast, Tony Khan said fans want to see Ricochet wrestle in promotions like CMLL, NJPW, and ROH.

“We have a new national champion, Ricochet, who will defend this title around the world. He is someone who not only is respected by AEW fans – I think he is a great, great wrestler – but he is also a big name in wrestling and a great person to represent.” [All Elite Wrestling]not only here on our TV shows, but also when traveling to other promotions in America. Companies like Ring of Honor, New Japan Strong, and even in Mexico with CMLL – a lot of other promotions want to bring in Ricochet. “He’s hot booking now as the national champion,” he said.

It remains to be seen what’s next for Ricochet after his latest setback.
