HBO Max is the latest streaming service to raise its prices.

The streaming giant owned by Warner Bros. DiscoveryIt announced Tuesday that it would raise prices on all plans. The HBO Max Basic plan with ads increases by $1 per month to $10.99, the Standard plan increases by $1.50 to $18.49, and the Premium plan increases by $2 to $22.99. HBO Max last raised prices in June 2024.

Price increases take effect immediately for new subscriptions. The company said that current monthly subscribers will be notified 30 days before their plan is renewed, with the new prices starting on or after the next billing date on November 20.

The updates come as the streaming market becomes increasingly saturated with options — and as other major apps raise their prices. Disney It raised the price of Disney+ plans and bundles last month, apple The price of Apple TV was raised by 30% in August and Netflix Its prices were raised early this year.

WBD CEO David Zaslav indicated in September that price increases were on the way along with a tougher crackdown on password sharing.

“The fact that this is quality, and this is true across our company, motion pictures, TV production, streaming quality, we all believe that gives us an opportunity to raise prices,” Zaslav said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology conference last month. “We think we’re well underpriced.”

As of June 30, WBD said it had 125.7 million paid subscribers across all of its streaming services. This stat includes HBO Max as well as other linear subscribers to HBO, who have access to the streaming service.

The HBO Max news comes as parent company WBD undergoes changes of its own. The company announced in June that it plans to split into two public companies by 2026. The streaming and studio business will include its movie properties and HBO Max, while the global networks business will include linear channels like CNN and TNT Sports.

At the same time, WBD is fielding interest in overseas orders from companies including Paramount Skydance and said Tuesday it is open to sale.
