As he awaits Morgan’s return, Jones has backed Morgan-Moors to become a 50-100 international after being named in his first Wales squad.

The 20-year-old back row has been a notable omission despite having what Jones described as a “fantastic highlight reel”.

After being left out of the summer tour, interim Wales coach Matt Sherratt said Moores was a “fantastic player”, but not a number eight.

Moors and Ospreys teammate James Fender is among five uncapped players in Steve Tandy’s 39-man squad for next month’s autumn internationals against Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa.

“As young men they will definitely be a great feather in their cap,” Jones said.

A rising star in Welsh rugby, Moors was selected for the Wales Under-20 squad just a week after his 17th birthday and has been an outstanding player for the Ospreys in recent seasons.

“He has a great work ethic and the coaches here are excited to try to help him maximize that potential,” Jones added.

He added: “He is still very young and we don’t want him to just play one international match, we want him to be a player who reaches 50-100 international matches.”

“We want to lay those foundations with him and have him remain in the Wales squad for many years to come.”
