Instead, his replacement, Jordan Love, went ahead with 20 points in the fourth quarter, as the Packers cruised to a 35-25 winner for their first win in Pittsburgh since 1970.

Rodgers hopes to retire as a Packer once he calls it a day, having won four MVPs and a Super Bowl during 18 seasons at Lambeau Field — but there’s no doubt his departure was surprising after Love was named his replacement.

Loew showed why with an almost flawless second half, completing 20 consecutive passes, something Rodgers could never do, and driving four scoring shots.

The Steelers need to get their defense in order if they want to challenge, but the Packers appear to be a contender — and Chesshead fans who believe in the omens will be excited for this season.
