Baller League CEO Felix Starck takes stock of the brand’s success ahead of the second season

Baller League probably does a lot of things right. After starting in Germany in 2023, it has expanded to the UK and is preparing to launch in the USA.

But Stark acknowledged there was “room for improvement in every department.”

Several violent incidents marred the inaugural season in the UK, with manager AngryGinge leaving scratch marks on his neck after a fight between players from SDS and Yanited during the seventh round of the match.

Yanets’ manager later said he was “grabbed and kicked” while in the middle of an on-field brawl.

This incident came a week after former Premier League defender Joleon Lescott, who appeared as a guest player, was attacked by advertising hoardings during an altercation with Wembley Rangers player Domingos Pires.

In the fifth round, Troy Deeney was sent off for assaulting a world-ruling FC player with his forearm raised.

“We’re a very soft society these days, but this is the sport, this is the emotion,” Stark said.

“If two roosters come into a room they will fight, and we have 250 roosters, so they will fight.

“We had full conversations [after incidents]”We don’t publicly discuss what we did but we have taken action to make sure things like this don’t happen again.”

Unlike the Premier League, the Baller League is not regulated by a governing body, and therefore sanctions are dealt with by an internal disciplinary committee.

The Baller League took action after tensions rose again in the penultimate round of the regular season, when Tribol FC’s Amine Sassi appeared to kick an opponent in the head while he was lying on the ground – resulting in a one-match ban.
