Premier League: Hull FC 20-34 Hull KR – Robins fighting to continue their derby dominance

Hull FC interim coach Andy Last told BBC Radio Humberside:

“I was really disappointed, it would have been great to get two points. Unbelievable fans have come after a season in which we have really struggled. The loyalty of the fans is second to none.

“We got off to a great start. We felt the start was important for us to get that interaction with the fans and we thought Rovers had been a bit shaky after the last two games, so things couldn’t have gone any better.

“The attempts we received were very weak and that was due to fatigue.

“Second half, Rovers did what they do which is suffocate your center field. I ended up being a bit of a pain in the neck because I was looking to my left the whole time. That pressure they put you under forced us to make some uncharacteristic mistakes.”

Hull KR coach Willie Peters told BBC Humberside:

“I’m really proud. The first 10 minutes was a nervous start, 12 minutes [points] It could have gotten ugly but we fought back.

“I thought Tom Amone and Kyle Lawton were fantastic. They made a huge difference when they came on. I say it every week but what Dean Hadley brings to our team is unbelievable.”

[On Elliot Minchella and Jez Litten] “When times get a little tough, you want your leaders to stand up and that’s what I think those two guys did tonight and they had great performances.

“I said before the game that I think this is the perfect game for us to show that we are still in this fight. Going 12-0 down against your opponents so we can step up defensively is what we need.”
