He was among a large group of candidates seeking to replace Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, who dropped his re-election bid earlier this month. Describing himself as a “pragmatist,” Madill said national Republicans had “made it nearly impossible for a Republican to win statewide elections in Minnesota.”

“I have read and spoken to help countless American citizens who have been detained in Minnesota because of the color of their skin,” Madill said.
