Against the Springboks, Wales will be without 13 players who play club rugby in England and France.

The game was organized by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) outside the international window of World Rugby, so players not based in Wales are not available for the match.

The match is also on the weekend of the United Rugby Championship (URC) matches with the four professional teams playing all league matches.

Wales currently have 28 players remaining in the squad for the visit of South Africa, with Tandy considering bringing in some new names.

“I think we’re going to call up a few, and we’re going to have to evaluate injuries,” Tandy said.

“They are world champions, so we may have to get some reinforcements.

“We will talk as a training group and with the medical staff. Touch wood, everyone has qualified.”

Flanker Harri Deaves made his Wales debut against New Zealand, while fellow Ospreys back-rower Morgan Morse and Dragons hooker Brodie Coghlan also made his Test debut from the substitute bench.

Tandy pointed out the difference in experience between the two sides.

“The All Blacks had about 800 caps there, and we had 300 caps, with three new caps,” Tandy said.

“We have to go through this period. Being ranked 11th in the world gives these boys the experience they need.

“Next week will be another opportunity to do this for others.

“It’s just about making sure we keep getting things out of games that can get us where we want to be.”
