✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel, who was appointed in November, is leading Aberdeen’s rebuilding process.

After a huge turnover of players in the last two years – there were 31 players coming in four transfer periods – the dismantled team needs a strong identity.

Pfannenstiel went on record as saying, and began his work in January as the club added seven new players.

It’s about the club’s long-term vision, which means short-term struggles may be needed, so the theory goes. It is a logical analysis.

The problem is that football does not always obey logic.

“People should see it as a privilege to be offered the Aberdeen job,” former Hearts midfielder Ryan Stevenson told Sportsound.

“If there is a personal issue or obstacle, I think the Aberdeen board should cut ties.

“Everything has a reason, go get someone else. I can’t believe a club the size of Aberdeen will be idle between now and the end of the season.”

“I know they won the cup, but act quickly, you Aberdeen. This will put the fans and players at ease and settle things.”

The point Stevenson makes about settling matters is a salient one. Aberdeen have not had consistency this season.

They have used more players than any team in the Premier League, changing goalkeepers, centre-back pairings and systems at will. Not to mention the different sounds in the bunker.

From Thelin to Leven, Pfannenstiel and now new assistant Tony Docherty as well. If results start to turn in the interim team’s favour, he will buy the club time.

Lost to Dundee United on Tuesday and the hype will continue to grow. It can only be ignored for so long.
