Aberdeen have signed goalkeeper Per Christian Bratveit on an 18-month contract after the Norway international’s contract with Strømsgodset expired last month.
Bratveit will provide support to number one Dimitar Mitov after Nick Soman suffered a serious ankle injury in training.
The 29-year-old came through the academy at Haugesund, making his first-team debut at the age of 18 in 2014 and playing more than 100 games.
He signed with Swedish club Djurgardens in 2019 and subsequently won his single cap with Norway in 2020.
Bratveit played loan spells with FC Groningen and Nîmes in France, before spending permanent spells with Valerenga, Aarhus, Ods BK and Strømsgodset.
“When we learned of the extent of Nick’s injury, we moved quickly to sign Per Christian, whose contract with Strømsgodset expired last month,” said sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel.
He added: “He is an experienced goalkeeper. He has played extensively in many strong leagues and clubs, and he also has great international experience with Norway.”
“He will provide real competition within the goalkeeping department as we continue to strengthen the squad.”
