✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:
“We have a journey to go to reach another level and compete in Europe,” Thielen admitted afterwards. “We have to build this year and next to become a more competitive team in games like this.
“I think the best thing I can do as a coach is support my players and learn from that.”
If Aberdeen are still learning on the European stage, they will have to do so very quickly with matches against AEK Larnaca, FC Noah, Strasbourg, and Sparta Prague before the end of the league phase.
At the local level, Thelen’s side cannot afford to spend more time learning.
The North East side currently sit second bottom in the Premier League with seven points from their first eight games, and have games against Hibernian and Kilmarnock before the end of October.
“The most important thing now is that we have a very important game on Sunday,” Thielen added.
“We have to focus on the right things and make it a good game against Hibs on Sunday to show our fans that we can do really well in the league.”
