✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:
Airbnb is piloting a service with Instacart that will allow guests to order groceries directly through the Airbnb app before and during their stay, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday.
“We regularly test product updates, categories and new initiatives, in order to provide the best possible experience for our community,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “As part of that, and following the launch of Airbnb services earlier this year, we will be piloting grocery using Instacart in select markets across the US starting in January.”
The news was first reported by Bloomberg.
The new service will be available to select hosts with listings available in Phoenix, Orlando and Los Angeles, according to Airbnb’s help page.
If hosts receive their guests’ pre-orders and put them away before check-in, they’ll get $25, according to the help page. They will also receive a $100 bonus for their first completed order. Guests will be able to place orders on Instacart from the Airbnb app up to three weeks in advance of their stay.
The new partnership with Instacart marks the latest addition to Airbnb’s “services,” which launched in May and allows guests to book services and experiences, like getting a massage, a haircut or a chef-prepared meal. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the services will help the company add $1 billion or more in revenue annually.
Instacart did not immediately return a request for comment.
