💡 Here’s what you’ll learn:
Amanda Anisimova was asked to make a tough choice between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. Anisimova was recently part of a survey with “SELF” where she played “Would You Rather.” In this, Anisimova had to choose one of the two options presented.
Among the many questions, the American star was asked whether she would rather play doubles with 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams or be coached by five-time Grand Slam champion and Hall of Fame star Sharapova. Anisimova replied:
Thanks for submitting!
“Both would be great,” Anisimova said. “I think I will have a personal training session, but also playing doubles with Serena would be very nice after having a great year, reaching two Grand Slam finals and qualifying for the 2025 WTA Finals.”
Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are inspirational figures for many female tennis players. The pair have been part of the iconic rivalry since the early 2000s, and even Williams admitted the former Russian star pushed her to her limits to give her best.
Amanda Anisimova is honest when making choices for her tour arrangements
Amanda Anisimova was asked many interesting questions that gave followers an idea of the difficulties that a professional tennis player faces.
Anisimova said she would rather have unlimited free travel to matches than eat her favorite food at every match.
“Oh, I would definitely get unlimited free travel. That would be so luxurious. I spend a lot of money on my flights,” she said.
This shows how expensive it is for tennis stars to travel around the world to participate in the tour, as they have to foot the bill for flights, hotel accommodation and food not only for themselves but for the entire training team.
Regarding gameplay questions, Anisimova said she would rather trip than lose a shoe midway through the match. Furthermore, she said that playing with a blister is “the worst feeling ever”, given her strong grip, and that she prefers to “play drunk”. The two-time Grand Slam finalist added that she would rather not have just one racket than show up with an empty water bottle.
“I prefer to come to a match with just an empty water bottle because I need several rackets in case the string breaks,” Anisimova said. “It also depends on how important the match is.
“I mean I need a lot of rackets, and you change them every time you change balls. So I think I can go two hours without a sip of water. I just like to pretend I’m running a marathon or something.”
Amanda Anisimova has a career year in 2025 and wants to finally win a Grand Slam in 2026 after coming close twice this year.
