Redford posted a statement on social media in which she thanked fans for their “overwhelming love and support,” adding: “He clearly meant a lot to so many, and I know my family is humbled by the outpouring of stories and tributes from around the world.”

She continued, “There have been multiple versions of funerals, tributes, and quotes from my family members that were made up by AI. Portraying my father who clearly had no say, and portraying my family who does not represent anyone in a positive light, is an added challenge during difficult times.”

Redford said no public funeral has been held, and a memorial to her father’s life is still being planned. “Every family should have the ability to mourn, represent the person they have lost, and honor them in the way that best fits their values ​​and family culture,” she said.

Redford added: “I hope that AI stays in the land of transparent use where it belongs. There are many elements of it that were created in good faith. I’m simply asking, what if I were you? Let this be your guide.”
