Liverpool The team is in advanced talks with Andoni Iraola as they look to appoint a new coach following the sacking of Arne Slott.
Iraola left Bournemouth at the end of the season and is the favorite for the role at Anfield.
Liverpool are keen to make an appointment as soon as possible and want a manager who suits their preferred style of play, which is to play attacking football.
No approach has been made yet regarding a potential coaching staff for Iraola, but the 43-year-old Spaniard is keen to bring his Bournemouth assistant Tommy Elphick, a lifelong Liverpool fan, along.
BBC Sport understands that Elphick has not yet made contact with the Reds but would be interested in the opportunity.
The 38-year-old former Bournemouth centre-back turned down the chance to become Bristol City manager last week in order to assess his other options.
The recruitment process at Anfield is being led by Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, who previously worked with Erola at the Cherries.
The Reds sacked Slott on Saturday, just a year after the Dutchman led them to the Premier League title.
