A Danish court has sentenced Norwegian international player Andreas Schildrup to a two-week suspended prison sentence after a Danish court found him guilty of sharing sexual material involving two boys under the age of 18.
Benfica winger Schildrup, 21, told the court he received a 27-second video on Snapchat and sent it to a group chat of four friends before deleting it once he realized its content.
Schilderup, who was 19 and playing for Danish club Nordsjælland at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty after cooperating with police investigations.
Schilderup will only have to serve time in prison if he is found guilty of another crime within the next 12 months.
The prosecution asked the court to sentence Schilderup to at least 20 days in prison.
His lawyer Anders Nemeth told the court that the defense would take some time to deliberate before deciding whether to appeal.
Rui Costa, president of the Portuguese club Benfica, previously said that the club would support Schjelderup.
In a statement posted on Instagram on November 8, Schilderup apologized and said he wanted to “be open to all of you about the stupid mistake I made.”
He said he was “ready to face the consequences” and urged people not to “watch or post videos with harmful or offensive content.”
He added: “The crime for which I will be convicted does not reflect who I am as a person and what I stand for.”
Schildrup, who has eight caps for Norway, was an unused substitute on Sunday during Norway’s 4-1 win in Milan to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
