Anthropic taps TCS to scale enterprise AI deployments

Anthropic has partnered with Indian IT services giant Tata Consultancy Services in a bid to accelerate the adoption of AI models in enterprises.

The partnership will see TCS create a business unit focused on deploying Anthropic’s AI models to its clients. TCS will also get early access to new model releases, which it says it will use to build experience, and will make Anthropic’s Claude AI assistant available to its employee base of more than 50,000 people.

The companies said they will develop solutions for sectors such as financial services, healthcare, telecommunications and aviation.

Frontier AI companies are securing enterprise distribution channels by partnering with companies like TCS in India. Earlier this year, Anthropic teamed up with Infosys, and OpenAI teamed up with Infosys and HCLTech to do something similar.

Beyond enterprise deployments, the partnership extends to multiple TCS companies and platforms. Diligenta, TCS’ UK life and pensions business with more than 22 million customers, plans to use Claude for customer service and process automation. Likewise, TCS iON, the company’s digital learning platform, will offer training and certification programs on Anthropic models.

TCS said it will contribute capabilities to Anthropic’s Claude Code ecosystem, including claims adjudication and lending advisory tools.

Anthropic is expanding its presence in India, which the company describes as its second-largest market. Over the past year, the startup has opened an office in the country, appointed to leadership roles, and expanded its relationships with major IT services companies.

The deal comes at a time when investors and technology companies alike are beginning to question the viability of India’s $315 billion IT services industry amid the rise of artificial intelligence. Shares of TCS and Infosys are down about 34% and 31%, respectively, so far this year.
