Liverpool Manager Arne Slott says he has “every reason to believe” he will remain in charge of the club next season.
The Dutchman led Liverpool to the English Premier League title in his first season with the team, but he received criticism for the team’s performance and results this season.
The fourth-placed Reds will end the season without a trophy and are yet to secure a place in next season’s Champions League with two games remaining.
Despite fans’ dismay, the club’s hierarchy have not indicated they are considering replacing Slott this summer.
Speaking about his future on Thursday, Slott said: “I don’t think I will decide that for myself, but I have every reason to believe that I will coach Liverpool next season.”
“First of all, I signed with this club and secondly after all the conversations we are having. This is my opinion on this matter.
“If you don’t have the best season, especially if you compare it to last season – if you compare it to other seasons you might have a different discussion, but if you compare it to last season – it certainly wasn’t a great season, then it’s also normal for criticism to come.
“We all had our share, and I mean the players had their share, the coach had his share, the other people at the club had their share. That’s the way it goes these days if you don’t win the league.”
