Matheus Cunha scored Manchester United’s thrilling late winner as Manchester United beat Premier League leaders Arsenal in a five-goal thriller at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal’s first home defeat of the season, after wins over title rivals Manchester City and Aston Villa, means the gap has been reduced to four points.
Arsenal started the match very well, and took the lead when United defender Lisandro Martinez put the ball into his own net in the 29th minute.
The hosts gifted Manchester United their way back into the game when Martin Zobimendi’s loose pass put Brian Mbeumo past the goal and the United striker calmly dribbled past David Raya and slotted the ball into an empty net.
United then shocked the hosts, taking the lead five minutes into the second half with a brilliant shot from Patrick Dorjo, who fired a shot that bounced off the underside of the crossbar.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta tried to shake things up in the game as he made a four-way substitution, bringing on Victor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Ben White. It was Merino who thought he had saved at least a point when he scored from a corner kick in the 84th minute.
However, just three minutes later, substitute Cunha received a pass from Kobe Maino and curled a stunning shot into the bottom corner from around 25 yards.
With this victory, Manchester United moved to fourth place.
