While Deloitte’s figures show strong numbers for the most successful clubs, Haskell noted less impressive growth for clubs lower down the list.
The eight Premier League clubs from last season are still in the top 15, but all except Manchester City will see slower growth than both Arsenal and Chelsea in 2025.
In fact, revenue generated by the big three clubs alone makes up 46% of the 15 clubs’ total, with Everton generating less than it did in 2024.
“With average revenues reaching a new high, there is a huge gap forming between the top-ranked clubs and the rest,” Haskell said.
Likewise, while the fact that 13 of the top 15 clubs from 2024 feature in this list shows that teams are doing well to maintain their position, could it also indicate a lack of competition outside those at the top of women’s football?
The biggest move up the list is European powerhouse Bayern Munich, whose revenues doubled from £3m in 2024 to £6m in 2025.
Part of their success can be attributed to winning the inaugural World Sevens Football Championship last May, competing alongside Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain – a new inclusion in this year’s roster.
Haskell said tournaments such as these are vital innovations in driving further growth in women’s football, with commercial venture revenues making up nearly three-quarters of total growth figures (72%).
“Going from the start-up stage to the establishment stage in women’s football requires time, investment and sustained effort,” she said.
“As more milestones are achieved, including new and expanded competitions on the biggest stages, industry leaders must continue to innovate.”
