The Aina handball incident occurred about 10 minutes before the end of the match.
The Forest right-back attempted to control the rebound in his own penalty area as he was challenged by Gabriel Jesus and collided with teammate Elliot Anderson.
The ball struck Aina’s shoulder before hitting his arm as the defender attempted to turn, prompting Arteta and Arsenal to desperately appeal for a penalty – but to no avail.

While Arteta was adamant about denying his side a “clear penalty”, Forest manager Sean Dyche, unsurprisingly, disagreed.
“I think if these things start popping up, we should all let go. I think that’s ridiculous. We have to be careful with those,” Dyke said.
“You could also cancel football if you would give that [as handball]. Rules have to be careful. Do you know what they should look at? People pretend to be injured. “This is the new diving.”
Retired Premier League assistant referee Darren Cann told BBC Sport that he believed the officials had reached the correct decision, saying: “The arm is close to the body and is in a justified position.”
The decision divided watching pundits, with former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin telling BBC Radio 5 Live that he thought Aina’s arm “moved towards the ball”, but former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard insisted it was “soft” to award a penalty for the incident.
