infection Aston Villa The team has suffered another blow as captain John McGinn will be sidelined for several weeks.

The midfielder did not travel to Türkiye for Thursday’s Europa League match against Fenerbahce, while goalkeeper Emi Martinez and Boubacar Kamara were also absent.

Reports suggest that key midfielder Kamara will miss the season after coming off a knee injury against Tottenham last week, with the club yet to provide any update.

Scottish McGinn (31 years old) was forced to leave early in the match that was lost on Sunday against Everton due to a knee injury, and coach Unai Emery has not yet discovered the extent of the problem.

“We are still waiting because he is still visiting some doctors to make a decision [on] “What must be done,” Emery said at a press conference in Türkiye.

“It may be like this for several weeks or it may be like that [less]”It depends on the doctor and how he feels.”

Martinez has a calf problem while new winger Alisson (knee) has not traveled with Ross Barkley remaining at Birmingham, although Amadou Onana is available after missing the past four games with a hamstring problem.

Villa arrived in Türkiye on Wednesday afternoon, but head of football operations Roberto Olabi traveled on Monday to watch target Tammy Abraham play for Besiktas.

The striker, who was previously on loan at Villa in 2018-19 and helped them secure promotion to the Premier League with 25 goals in the tournament, featured in Besiktas’ 1-0 win over Kayserispor.

He is currently on loan from Roma but Besiktas, fifth in the Turkish Super League, have already activated their option to buy the 28-year-old for around £12m making negotiations difficult.

Besiktas – who are also in talks for Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbado – do not want to sell Abraham and have to find a replacement late in the window, but have been told they are keen to return to England with Villa – despite Premier League interests.

Sources in Türkiye have indicated they are waiting for Villa to meet their demands on the striker, who has scored 12 goals in 24 games since his arrival in the summer.

Meanwhile, Leon Bailey has returned to Villa after the club agreed to cancel his loan to Roma.

There was no call-up clause in the deal that took the winger to Serie A in the summer as Roma had a purchase option.

However, both clubs agreed that it was in the best interests of all parties for Bailly to return, having made just one league start during an injury spell.
