📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:

Sinner has been a dominant force on indoor hard courts, with this marking his 27th straight win on the surface.

His serve was superb in a quality first set. He won 24 of 27 first serve points, did not lose a single point behind his first serve and did not face a single break point.

Auger-Aliassime took a set from Sinner during his run to the US Open final and hit hard from the start, forcing Sinner to rush and at times equalizing him shot for shot.

But the injury at 6-5 and 30-0 had an immediate impact as Auger-Aliassime struggled to move and hit long shots as he tried to get out of trouble.

Sinner, who had only drawn one draw in 10 service games, did not give up and won with an ace before his country’s fans sang for him.

He and his rival Alcaraz are competing for first place at the end of the year in Turin.

Sinner must defend his title – and hope that Alcaraz loses a group match and does not reach the final – to retain the top spot in the standings.

Alcaraz, in the group opposite Sinner, began his campaign with a straight-sets win over Alex de Minaur on Sunday.
