Speaking to reporters after the game, Austin Reaves told the media that he was not planning on scoring 51 points against the Sacramento Kings. Reeves knew he had to step up because the Los Angeles Lakers were playing without Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

“Especially on a night when you don’t have Luka, you don’t have Bron, you don’t have Jackson (Hayes), you have to go out there and be big for the team,” Reeves said, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I wasn’t thinking in my head, ‘You have to score 50 points.’ “It was: Do everything you can to help the team win.”

Reaves went from being undrafted to a legitimate star for the Lakers in the span of just five seasons. He looks like a second option on offense at best, so it will be interesting to see if he can make this year’s All-Star team.
