Auston Trust: Celtic appeal the defender’s red card in the loss to Hibernian

Manager Martin O’Neill said after the match: “I just spoke to the referee. He said he would only speak to the players and then the VAR intervened and said this was violent behaviour.”

“You can’t do that if those are the rules now. It doesn’t matter if someone is holding on to you. You can’t, trying to break away, you can’t push them down the way he did.”

Celtic captain Callum McGregor commented: “To win a title, you need a lot of things to fall in love with, you need good decisions. Obviously Sunday’s decision, in my opinion, is a bad decision.”

“Maybe Auston will give them the chance to send him off, but I think if we’re all honest, this has happened on every corner kick, on every free kick in the game, for the last 150 years.

“To send him off for that, we all have to move on and stop playing football if it’s a red card every week.”

Hibs boss David Gray said: “You can’t raise your hands with that aggression. This is violent behavior and the color is clear and clear red.”
