📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
The past eight Grand Slam titles have been shared between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
They have played in the past three finals, impressing us – especially at Roland Garros last June, when Alcaraz saved three championship points en route to a stunning victory.
But at the time, their top 10 competitors could barely lay a glove on them.
“It’s not a healthy situation to have a race between two horses,” Pat Cash, the 1987 Wimbledon champion, said on BBC 5 Live’s Australian Open programme.
“There are those two guys, and then there are the others.”
The fear is that for all the excitement the finals generate, the men’s draw could become too predictable if their dominance continues.
So far in Melbourne, Alcaraz has won his first three matches in straight sets, and Sinner has lost just 10 games in his first two rounds.
“Anything can happen in a long tournament, but a race between two horses is not necessarily healthy for a Grand Slam or the Tour,” Cash added.
“If there are only two players that everyone is talking about, that’s a problem.”
