The 19-year-old Saracens winger is a potential new star for English rugby and was immediately brought into the England training camp as a development player.

He was clearly impressed and was selected ahead of the in-form Leicester Tigers Adam Rizwan in the final squad for the four Tests.

Calori’s point of difference – his ability in the air – has earned him rave reviews from players and pundits.

The way the 6-foot-4 Calori can dangle high and catch the ball over his head can be a powerful weapon on the biggest stage, but he also has speed and power galore, leaving George Ford flying through the air twice as he passed by.

“His raw, athletic style is unreal,” former England winger Ugo Moni told the BBC.

He added, “The change in the law with the escort removed the protection for the catcher, so now we see the most efficient and athletic players in the air, which is what is celebrated.”

Borthwick has two years until the World Cup and it is clear he wants to accelerate Calori’s development.

England’s squad this autumn – Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina – are all teams that reached the quarter-finals at the last World Cup.

The easiest match on paper is against Fiji on November 8, but can Calori play more than just a short game this autumn?

“I know we have good wingers and Emmanuel Faye-Wabuso and Tommy Freeman will probably start, but he… [Caluori] “Not too far away,” added former England winger Chris Ashton.

“It won’t be a problem if he plays this well. Every part of his game deserves to be capped.”
