The first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has been released online, in the lead-up to the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The short 90-second trailer shows Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America riding a motorcycle along a country road, entering a house and picking up a superhero costume, then carrying a sleeping baby. The title then announces: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
The film’s directors Joe and Anthony Russo accompanied the trailer’s release with an Instagram post saying: “The character that changed our lives. The story that brought us all here together. It was always going to come back to this…”
Avengers: Doomsday is the fifth film in Marvel’s Avengers series (and the thirty-ninth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and will star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the film’s main antagonist. It’s also set to include a slew of well-known Marvel characters, which were introduced in March through a lengthy “cast reveal,” along with the original X-Men, Fantastic Four and the entire Thunderbolts crew*.
Trailers for the film were originally planned to be shown exclusively in theaters in front of screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, but confusion arose after fans reported disappointment in random programming, as well as online leaks, so the studio went ahead with an online release.
Avengers: Judgment Day is scheduled for release on December 17, 2026 in Australia and December 18, 2026 in the United Kingdom and the United States.
