Bangladesh vs Ireland: Matthew Humphreys stars as tourists win maiden T20 international

Ireland started well at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Mutur Rahman Cricket Ground and had 40 runs on the board by the time Paul Sterling was dismissed in the opener on the 21st.

Curtis Campher was dismissed in the 17th over for Ireland with 142, but the partnership of Tector, who scored an unbeaten 69, and George Dockrell, helped Ireland to 181.

Bangladesh would have looked for a strong response but their top batting order was decimated by the Irish bowlers.

Tenzid Hasan Tamim (two) was dismissed by Humphreys off the penultimate ball of the over, while the loss of the wickets of Liton Kumar Das (one) and Parvez Hossain Emon (one), both off Mark Adair deliveries, left the hosts 5-3 down midway through the third over.

Saif Hasan was next to fall in the sixth over when bowled by McCarthy, and although Hridoy’s brilliant consolidation almost kept Bangladesh in the contest with 89 not out, Humphreys took the wickets of Tanzeem (five), Rashad Hossain and Nasoom Ahmed (both not out), while McCarthy completed a hat-trick of his own by taking Jakir Ali Anik (20) and Shuriful Islam (12) as Bangladesh failed to make the hat-trick.
