💡 Key idea:

Hearts’ draw in Paisley, coupled with Celtic’s win, reduced the gap at the top of the table to six points.

It was routine, but after the week the defending champions had had, it was exactly what they needed.

Next up is a very different challenge, as Rangers and their League Cup semi-final at Hampden await on Sunday.

Celtic went into the game with intention. There have been flashes of that, but not with the same intensity as seen before this season.

26 shots were directed at Scott Payne’s goal on Wednesday, 11 of which found the target, and two of which hit the woodwork. They made 119 successful passes into the final third as well.

In Kenny, they have a striker who will seize the opportunity presented to him.

His two goals were instinctive, while the third goal should have been added in the second half.

“I was at Celtic for a long time, moving the ball quickly,” O’Neill told Celtic TV.

“Sometimes we play this game too fast, it’s okay. As long as there’s a finished product. We’ll see how we can get out of the game.

“As it turns out, even at my age I’m learning about players. I’m learning that some of our players are really good.”

The interim manager joked on Wednesday that if Falkirk did not go according to plan, they would not be there on Sunday.

Thus, mission accomplished. If he completes his next one, O’Neal can expect to be asked about his future plans a bit more.
