Bayern Munich will be without Luis Diaz when they face Arsenal in the Champions League next week after the striker received a three-match ban for the red card he received against Paris Saint-Germain.

Diaz scored twice in Bayern’s 2-1 win over defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on 4 November, but was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi shortly before half-time.

The challenge led to Moroccan Hakimi suffering a severe sprain in his left ankle, and he has not played since then.

UEFA considered that Diaz’s intervention amounted to “dangerous rough play” and suspended the Colombian player for three matches.

He will miss the trip to Arsenal on November 26 as well as home matches against Sporting and St Guilloise Union on December 9 and January 21 respectively.

Earlier on Friday, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said he expected Diaz to be suspended for one match.

Bayern leads the Champions League with 12 points from four matches, ahead of Arsenal and Inter Milan on goal difference.

Diaz scored three goals in four Champions League matches with Bayern this season after joining from Liverpool in the summer, while he scored six goals in 10 matches in the German League.
