Beau Graves: Archer’s rising star who beat Luke Littler

Graves began playing with her older brother Taylor, who had a dartboard in his bedroom, and she quickly demonstrated her aptitude for the game.

“When she was 11, she went to Jersey with her mum and I remember she beat the best women’s player, Lisa Ashton, and me,” Hedman told BBC Sport.

“Even then, I knew she was a very special person.”

Hedman was the first woman to beat a man in a televised major when she defeated Aaron Turner at the UK Open in 2005, and says Greaves can compete at the highest level.

“I think Beau is going to cause some damage. Some men don’t like playing women even in this day and age where there’s more pressure,” she said.

“It remains to be seen whether she will win a Grand Slam or not. She has the ability to beat them.

“She is a kind and humble lady from a beautiful family. You cannot find a prettier young man.”

“In darts, there will always be backbiting and jealousy, but what you see from Bo is what you get and she has time for everyone, whoever you are.”

World number one Humphries was among those who praised Greaves, who made history in February as the first woman to reach the fourth round at the UK Open, where she led 7-5 before eventually losing 10-7.

“I think she’s a great player and she deserves it,” Humphries said on his run to Sunday’s World Grand Prix final. “I expect she will thrive playing in it [PDC Pro Tour].

“She’s been a really good player on the minor tours this year. She’s good on the Challenge Tour and good on the Development Tour and she’ll be a real threat in the future for all the players. Not just for me but for everyone.”

“I think she’ll do really well. If she’s relaxed and there’s no pressure on her shoulders, then yeah, I think she’ll be 64th in a couple of years for sure.”

Greaves will face defending champion Dutchman Gian van Veen in the youth final at Minehead in November.

The next installment of the Greaves v Littler clash is likely to come early next month as well at the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton.

And then who knows? She could become the second woman after Fallon Sherrock, in 2019, to win big matches at Ally Pally.
