New York Knicks guard Jose Alvarado can feel proud knowing that Bad Bunny will make history on Sunday. Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican musician, will be the first artist to perform primarily in Spanish to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. Alvarado’s Puerto Rican origins make him very proud.

Fans are looking forward to showcasing Bad Bunny in front of NFL fans, as well as an NBA player. On Sunday, New York Post reporter Stefan Bondi asked him about his thoughts on the rapper’s upcoming performance.

“Hell yeah. I can’t wait, you know.” Alvarado said. “This is a huge opportunity for Puerto Ricans to expand. Especially me, being a Boricua.

“But it’s a big thing. For him to do what he did for us when he did the show (in Puerto Rico), it was amazing. I went to the show, and it was the best show I’ve ever been to. He’s doing a great job and I’m happy that he’s able to show it at the highest level.”

It wasn’t just Alvarado who was celebrating with Puerto Ricans on Sunday. Bondy posted on X that the Knicks were singing Bad Bunny songs in the locker room after their 111-89 win over the Boston Celtics.

Additionally, Jose Alvarado made his debut with the Knicks after being traded by the New Orleans Pelicans before Thursday’s trade deadline. The NBA guard played 25 minutes off the bench and quickly made an impact. He had 25 points and two steals on 41.7% shooting.

Mike Brown talked about what Jose Alvarado can bring to the Knicks

Jose Alvarado is a valuable backup point guard in the league and can bring energy on both ends of the floor. Before his debut, Knicks coach Mike Brown praised what Alvarado can bring to the team.

“He brings a level of toughness to the team, and his energy is unparalleled,” Brown said. “What he can do defensively across the court and even in the front court with the ball especially catch and throw and things like that, he’s at a very high level. He shoots it better than most people think. We want to play fast and we think he’s the guy that’s going to come in and push the tempo. He gets us into our offense and all those other things.”

Brown also said Alvarado will make everyone on the team better. He’s also excited to be around for the rest of the campaign. The NBA point guard proved his new coach right.

According to Bondy, Jose Alvarado was responsible for six of the Knicks’ 18 deflections. The Brooklyn native is starting to add toughness and grit to New York.
