Hungarian football expert Bence Boksak
The thing about Toth is that he can play as a number eight, he can be a box-to-box player, but he has played as a carry player in the past.
I don’t think he’ll be a destructive type, and as a midfielder he’s more of a deep-lying maker. He can also play more advanced as a number 10. He played all those roles with Ferencvaros, but more importantly he played all those roles for Hungary, against Portugal and other big countries.
He’s got a lot of experience at a high level already because he’s been playing regularly in the Europa League, so he’s not coming straight from the Hungarian league as that’s a big step towards the Premier League.
Everyone I talked to about him, everyone who worked with him, spoke highly of his personality.
This is not the Dominik Szoboszlai who was expected to be a star the moment he joined the Hungarian national team as a 16-year-old. Alex had to bide his time. He worked hard. He was very professional his whole time and then he finally got his chance because of his character.
He learned from Naby Keita at Ferencvaros and his manager, Robbie Keane, worked closely with him, and he taught him a lot. His arrival in Ferencvaros was very important for his development.
He’s got a lot of intensity. He’s a good pressing player, so the number 10 is probably the role he could play in the Bournemouth team at the moment.
In terms of that intensity we know [Andoni] Iraola’s ball is focused and high-pressing, and he’s also really good in the final third when losing the ball. Alex is really good at it. To me, that’s probably his role.
