✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
Talent, belief and dedication can take a fighter far but making smart decisions early will determine how high Isaac’s ceiling is.
Iqbal describes the transition from amateur to professional as a “delicate” phase, where professional success is often made or broken.
“The first five or six fights are the real turnaround,” he says. “The work Hassan does in the gym now – and with the partners we bring in – is even more important than later.
“As you get older, your muscles become more wired. It’s harder to change them.”
Most importantly, Iqbal believes the coach should be involved when it comes to matching, making sure competitors are helping develop rather than just setting a record.
“Boxing is a messy sport,” he says. “Sometimes managers who have never boxed before find opponents.”
“But it must be the coach, because the coach knows the strengths and weaknesses of the fighter.”
Even the greats of sports needed learning nights. Pacquiao’s first three matches went to points. In his second professional fight, Floyd Mayweather went the four-round distance with awkward southpaw Reggie Sanders and had to deal with a cut in the third round.
“We want opponents who will make Hassan show what he can do. Who can test his resolve and grab his power. Hassan can box with both hands and we want someone who throws something back so he can slide, counter and strike.” Iqbal adds.
“We have to remember he is only 22 years old, but if he continues to keep pushing and learn, he will go all the way.”
