It is unlikely to be a closed system like the UFC-style leagues, where fighters are restricted to competing within just one organization.

Seven-division champion Amanda Serrano, the titular MVP, joined some of the fighters on stage at a press conference on Friday.

When asked if MVPW could offer its own belt in the future, Bedarian said he wanted to give fans “the best matches possible” and work alongside the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF.

“We are interested in having as many world champions as possible be part of the MVPW brand,” he said.

“Ultimately, it’s not really about sanctioning bodies, it’s about our athletes. We respect the sanctioning bodies and their processes, but they also need to evolve to allow for ongoing reconciliation that makes sense in terms of growing the brand and fan base.”

MVPW3 takes place on May 30 in El Paso, Texas, with WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Hahn facing Holly Holm in a rematch following a technical decision in their meeting in January.

The MVP looks forward to taking advantage of the proposed changes, external Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Law.

UFC-style leagues have been banned in boxing due to concerns about promoters controlling punishments, rankings, belts and management of fighters.

The proposed amendments would allow for league-style formats while requiring protection to be maintained for fighters – a move initiated by Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing.
