Briton Patrick Dever came in an impressive fourth place on his marathon debut in the men’s race in New York, with Benson Kipruto beating Alexander Mutiso in a dramatic photo finish to take the win.

Preston Harrier Dever, who finished in two hours, eight minutes and 58 seconds, was part of a four-man group before Kipruto and Mutiso prevailed in the closing stages.

Mutiso almost overtook his Kenyan teammate on the line but Kipruto held him back as they both secured a time of 2:08.09. Their compatriot Albert Korir came in third place with a time of 2:08.57.

Briton David Weir came in second place (1:34.09) behind Swiss Marcel Hauge (1:30.16) in the men’s wheelchair race.

Britain’s Eden Rainbow-Cooper (1:59.30) finished seventh in the women’s wheelchair race, which was won by American Susanna Scaroni (1:42.10).
